Mr. Jeff Adkins

I have been a teacher since I was a TA for an astronomy class in college.  I started teaching in public schools in fall 1985.  After seven years of teaching in Kentucky, I began working for the Kentucky State Department of Education as a science consultant.  This led me to California where I was Director of Assessment Development for the New Standards Project, a national standards-based education initiative driven by the National Center on Education and the Economy.  In 1998 I joined Deer Valley High School as a science teacher and shortly after that I began working for Los Medanos College.  I am a former AUSD Teacher of the Year, NASA Astrophysics Ambassador, and several other awards.

I am also an author of various articles, online essays, a novel (The Boy Who Skipped) and a textbook (Conceptual Astronomy 1 and 2).
