General Studies

  • General Studies is the area of ACE that allows a student to have a customized, individualized program of studies that is designed in conjunction with an ACE teacher.  For example, there is no English academy within ACE.  The ACE student would ask an English teacher to advise them on which courses to take and what projects to pursue. Students wishing to complete an a-g sequence with a project can earn the General Studies recognition upon graduation, with an Area of Emphasis added when sufficient classes are added and appropriate projects are completed.

Some ACE General Studies area certificates that have been awarded in the past include Astronomy, English, Engineering, Social Science, and others.

Below find the generic course sequence that a student can use for General Studies. Areas of specialization are negotiated with individual ACE Teachers.

For ACE with Honors, we are requiring you participate in AP Capstone classes in General Studies starting in 2018-2019.  Please see the following video for more information about these classes: AP Capstone classes
