  • High School Diploma Program for Adult Students

    Classes are ongoing.  It’s never too late to reach your goal of earning your High School Diploma!  Please drop by or call the Adult Education Office to sign up for registration.  All students must complete registration, assessments for math and reading, and orientation prior to enrollment in classes.  Please bring your most recent high school transcript with you to registration or we will help you request a copy.  After your transcript has been evaluated by our academic counselor, you will be given information regarding the necessary classes needed to fulfill your graduation requirements. 


    High School Equivalency Test Preparation (HiSET/GED)
    Adults of all ages may pursue a certificate of high school equivalency issued by the State of California by passing an exam such as the HiSET or GED.  High school equivalency is accepted by the community colleges, the military, and employers.  Antioch Adult School offers classes to help you prepare for the exam of your choice.  Both HiSET and GED include tests for reading, writing, social studies, math, and science. 

    English as a Second Language (ESL)
    ESL courses include the skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing, and preparation to participate in job-specific career and technical training.  Students may use ESL instruction to gain life and employment skills, progress to career or academic programs, and become active partners in their communities.  Classes available:

    • ESL Beginning
    • ESL Intermediate
    • ESL Advanced
    • ESL Multi-level

    Citizen Preparation
    This course is for students who want to learn the English vocabulary and civics information necessary to prepare for the American citizenship oral and written examinations.  Students need to speak, read and write English at the high beginning level or above to participate in Citizenship classes.  Students must complete registration and take an English skills assessment prior to enrollment in the class.  Class meets Tuesdays, 3:30 pm - 6 pm, March - May.  Space is still available! Please call (925) 779-7490 for information.

    Introduction to Microsoft Office Suite & Entry-Level Office Skills (FEE BASED)
    In this class, you will learn:

    • Microsoft Word (document production)
    • Excel (spreadsheets)
    • Access (reports and data bases)
    • Power Point (multimedia presentations)

    Culinary Arts (FEE BASED)

    Foodservice Safety and Sanitation Procedures, culinary techniques, kitchen measurement and terminology, menu planning, and recipe preperation areskills learned during this 12-week course.  An introduction to baking and pastry is also included.

    Accounting and Quickbooks (FEE BASED)

    In this class, you will learn:

    • Accounting and Bookkeeping Basics
    • Creat and set-up a company
    • Set up customers, jobs, and vendors
    • Learn to create and send invocies and sale receipts
    • Make journal entries, track expenses, and income
    • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
