California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)

  • The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is a comprehensive data collection service available to all California local education agencies.  It provides data about youth risk behavior, resilience, and positive school climate.

CHKS consists of survey modules for students, staff, parents, and community members.  It is tied to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Youth Risk Behavior Survey and to WestEd's California Student Survey.  Separate elementary, middle, and high school versions are offered.  AUSD students in grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 will be given the opportunity to take the survey.

AUSD has administered the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) for over a decade.  Questions are well aligned to our Local Control Accountability Plan.  Data from survey responses will be used to steer the initiatives in the LCAP.
