Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Kathleen Smith
I am proud to be a Belshaw Bear! I hold a Bachelors of Science degree from San Jose State University and a Multiple Subjects Credential from San Francisco State University. I am working to obtain a Masters of Education degree (MAed) in Curriculm and Instruction from Concordia University. I live in Clayton with my husband and two children. I am excited to help students learn and grow at Belshaw.
We follow the Belshaw Bear Necessities!
I am delighted to be your child’s teacher. Cooperation between child, teacher and parent/guardian will enhance our learning experiences this year. I will keep you informed of current events in our classroom as well as other information through this website and Class Dojo.
Homework: Every student should have a backpack to carry his/her papers home every day. Homework assignments will be in the form of weekly packets. The packets will include a reading log, math exercises, a sight word list and a spelling word list. Packets are sent home Mondays in the blue homework folder and are to be turned in on Fridays. Spelling tests and sight word tests will be conducted on Fridays. I will send home a blue homework folder every day except Friday. The students are to bring the folders back to school every day.
Supplies: Please make sure your child’s name is on his/her lunchbox and jacket. Please leave all other personal items at home. The school provides pencils, crayons, glue, scissors, rulers, etc. Toys and jewelry should stay at home to prevent loss and distraction.
Birthdays: As part of our healthy eating program, we will not be celebrating individual birthdays in the classroom with cookies, cupcakes, pizza etc. Your child will be recognized on their special day with a book and a pencil. We will have ONE BIG BIRTHDAY celebration for EVERYONE in June.
