Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Mr. Corning's teacher page. I hope you are staying safe and doing well. As we start our period of online learning for the remainder of the year, I will begin fairly slowly and address the current pandemic. I imagine that many of you have questions and I feel that one of the most important things I can do as a biology/biomed teacher is to help you understand our current situation.
The Antioch Unified School District and all of us teachers want to support your learning without increasing the stress in your lives. The pandemic and resulting school closure have impacted many families to differing degrees. You should not worry about how the school closure will affect your grade. While some parts of the district policy are still evolving, I can promise that your grade will not drop as a result of the school closure.
When we first began online learning, I was running my classes through e-mail only, but as soon as the district brought Office 365 online, I transitioned over to Microsoft Teams. The Microsoft Teams environment organizes your assignments, gives you tools like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for completing assignments, and streamlines the communication process. Once you have gone through the process of registering, you can access your online account by going to Office.com. Once you log on, you will see that you have Microsoft Teams available. Click on that and then click on your class. You will be generally be able to complete your assignments within the Microsoft Teams environment. It is worthwhile becoming well-versed in Office 365 because the Antioch Unified School District plans to continue using Office 365 in the fall.
My office hours are weekdays between 9:00 and 10:00 am, but you can e-mail me any time.
