  • Dance Distance Learning

    I hope your families are staying safe during this unprecedented time.  Be sure to check your email regularly and join your class period's Google Classroom.


    If you would like to make up any 3rd quarter absences, you are still welcome to do so. ALL 3RD QUARTER MAKE UP WORK IS DUE BY APRIL 15TH AT 3PM! Third quarter grades will be a letter grade (A, B, C).  See make up assignment options here: 19-20 Dance Class Make Up Work-de Lucia


    If you need to make up another 3rd quarter assignment (test/written work) please email me at to discuss those make up assignments.

    GRADING UPDATED 4/8/2020: 4th quarter and 2nd Semester Grades will receive a NO MARK or PASS. Students who receive a “pass” at the end of the semester will receive five credits per course. Many colleges including the UC, CSU and many private universities will be accepting the new grading system.  Students will receive “no mark” for the report card if they make little or no effort to
    complete assignments despite all communications with the student and family. 


    All assignments posted are offered as a way to stay active while school is closed. Dance Distance Learning is designed to provide you with ways to dance at home so you can exercise your body, diminish your stress and boredom, and give you something to look forward to and hopefully enjoy throughout your day.


    Email is the best way to communicate with me, or you can post any questions in comments (private or public) on announcements or assignments in Google Classroom.


    I will be holding office hours every school day from 3-4pm where I will be checking and answering email, as well as checking any voicemails or texts to my Google Voice #.

Ms. Lauren de Lucia

Prior to teaching full time, Lauren de Lucia’s 15+ year professional dance career included performing with various ballet companies such as Ballet West, Eugene Ballet Company, Diablo Ballet and many others.  Ms. de Lucia has been described as a “major classicist capable of fusing technique, musicality, and sheer verve.”  In 2007 Ms. de Lucia earned a Master of Arts in Modern Dance for Dance Educators, at CSU Long Beach.  She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance and Instruction from the University of Utah and is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy.  Ms. de Lucia has taught at various dance schools for the past 20+ years, which included a returning Dance Instructor position at the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  Before joining Deer Valley High School Academy of Performing Arts she was a faculty member at the Westlake School of Performing Arts in Daly City and the Contra Costa Ballet Centre in Walnut Creek where she taught various dance classes, rehearsed students for productions and competitions, and choreographed new works.
