Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Kasey Graham
Hello my students!
Please visit the tab titled "Distance Learning" each Monday to access the weekly assignment. Weekly assignments are due on Fridays by 3:00. I prefer that you copy the assignment, paste it into the body of an email, complete the work and email it to my firstname.lastname@example.org address. PLEASE write your full name and period you (used to) have for English in the subject line of the email to make grading easier on me.
During this unprecedented experience, I know that not all students will have appropriate access and support to complete distance learning. I know that students have a variety of learning struggles and that learning at home on your own may prove very challenging. I know that you may have to share technology with several siblings. I know that you may be busy all day looking after younger family members while your parents and guardians are at work. I know that your family may be experiencing great stress over financial concerns or illness and optional school work is the last thing on your mind. Taking all of that into consideration, the direction from the district is to provide assignments meant to be opportunities for review so that your skills do not diminish over the course of this lengthy time away. My goal is that you continue to read, write and critically think for a few hours a week so that you did not come in to your 10th grade year rusty. To respect the fact that not all students can access or complete this material for whatever reason, your current grade will not be docked if you do not complete these assignments. Of course, many of you read that and you are like, "Woohoo, I don't HAVE to do anything!" But you and I both know that if you do not do any reading, writing or critical thinking for four+ months, you will begin 10th grade at a huge deficit. At this point, the 3rd quarter grade you currently have in Aeries is the grade you will receive for the second semester. If you are unhappy with that grade, you can complete these weekly assignments and the points from these assignments will be used to raise your 3rd quarter grade and ultimately, your second semester grade.
