Mrs. Megan Parras (Formerly Leach)
Welcome to Mrs. Parras' class page! I have been working for the Antioch Unified School District since the 2008-09 school year, when I taught Kindergarten. I have worked at several schools over the years and taught Kinder, 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I have a 14 year old step-son, a 7 1/2 year old daughter, a 5 year old daughter, and son who was born in December. My husband and I live here in Antioch. I graduated from Cal State East Bay with a BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Childhood Studies and my teaching credential.
I will use this webpage to keep you updated as much as possible. I am using the Remind app and do most of my communication through that and MS Teams. It is essential that your child is able to access MyLocker through the AUSD webpage and that they can get in to i-Ready. Now that we have moved to a single sign on (SSO), you cannot access the i-Ready program without going through MyLocker. We have already begun the initial i-Ready diagnostic, so it is imperative that any connection issues get resolved. If you are having trouble with connecting to programs and it is not a computer problem, you can bring your computer to the school and someone can assist you to get logged on.
If there is ever a day when your technology is not working, I do math every day, so you can do the next math lesson pages. For Language arts, you can read for 30 minutes and then write a page summarizing the characters, setting, and key events that happened in the part you read. Additionally, please work on your fluency passage for the week.
Please feel free to email me. I check my messages frequently and will get back to you within 24 hours but usually much sooner.
I will have office hours daily Monday-Friday from 2:00-3:00 on MS Teams. You will need to email or message me to let me know you need to meet with me and then I will meet you in Teams. We are all learning a lot and have had to step out of our normal routines and make many, many changes. we need to be gentle with each other. I will extend grace and understanding to you and I would appreciate the same courtesy. We are all doing our best in a tough situation. I can only hope that we will be back in person soon.
