Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Mrs. Starr's Kindergarten Class Room 501
Hello to all my Little Stars & Families! I want you all to know that I miss each and everyone of you so dearly and our time spent together in our classroom and around school. I truly hope that you and your loved ones are doing well and staying healthy during this difficult time as we all try to endure this pandemic crisis. I am excited to work with you and your Little Star as we navigate through our distance learning adventure together. As we transition into this new style of learning, I want you to know that I am here for you and I want to make this process as smooth, user friendly and engaging as I possibly can. More importantly, it is my goal to make it a positive learning experience overall for your child.
It is important to know that while schools may be physically closed for the rest of this school year, our learning and growth must go on. Our Little Stars have all made so much growth and progress up to this point in the year and we must continue to nurture that growth together. We can do it! It is my hope that our at home learning activities do not bring added stress or overwhelm you. I understand that each family has their own unique circumstances and needs during this time and I want you to know that you are always welcome to reach out to me for help. I am happy to work with you to make the necessary accomodations and arrangements for your Little Star's success with distance learning. I am working very hard on making this distance learning process completely Kindergarten friendly for Little Stars and their families.
Distance learning is about keeping students and families connected to school and the sharing of resources and activities that assist with practice and reinforcement of skills and concepts taught so far. As parents, I do not expect you to schedule a 7:59-1:20 pm classroom day at home for your child. I understand that many families have multiple students at home as well as juggling work and other responsibilities. Let's be flexible and try our best together. I am learning with you daily and determining what the best "typical distance learning day" will look like for our class in particular, is surely a work in progress too.
Our distance learning plan will include weekly paper-pencil learning packets; daily Class Dojo checkins and story posts; completion of iReady lessons online; and the use of other online learning websites and platforms. Our main source of communication will be through our Class Dojo app and we will use Webex for our live class sessions. All activities will be posted using Class Dojo student portfolios. If you do not have access, you will need to submit completed assignments through email, Class Dojo messaging or dropping off assignments weekly to our school. You can also continue to check back here on Mrs. Starr's webpage regularly to stay informed and have access to many other online learning resources at your finger tips.
Finally, I appreciate everyone's flexibility and patience as we navigate this distance learning together. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You can also send me a school email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I prefer that you message me on Class Dojo or you can reach me on my school email. My Office Hours are Monday-Friday from 10:00am-Noon.
I wish you all welness and good health during this time. Until we meet again, please: Stay home. Stay safe. Stay connected.
Sending lots of love and hugs,
