Welcome to Antioch High School!

It has been my honor and privilege to serve as Principal of Antioch High School for the past 13 school years.  As a graduate of Antioch High School Class of 1979, I truly appreciate and understand the rich history and traditions of our school community.

Following high school, I earned an Associate of Science Degree at Los Medanos College, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at San Diego State University, and Masters in Education at Saint Mary’s College.  Upon completion of my college education, I decided to return home to serve my community.

In 1986 I was hired by REACH Project to serve as a counselor, providing counseling services to at risk youth and their families. I was assigned to Park Junior High School to serve as a teacher/counselor of the Resource Education Awareness Prevention (REAP) program. In 1996 I was hired by the Antioch Unified School District as a secondary high school guidance counselor at Prospects Alternative Education High School where I was responsible for developing social emotional counseling services and alternative school programs for at risk students.  In 1999 I was promoted to the position of secondary assistant principal at Antioch High School and appointed to principal of Antioch High School in 2006.

During my tenure as principal, Antioch High School has implemented a number of high school reform initiatives, which have made significant changes in our educational, counseling, college and career programs contributing to the an increase in our high school graduation rates, college admission rates and career internship opportunities for our students.

In an effort to develop a more personalized education, Antioch High School was redesigned from one large traditional high school of over 2,000 students and converted to four small learning communities (SLC) of about 500 students. The SLC model has provided students with the opportunity to develop positive and meaningful relationships with their classmates and teachers.

The implementation of Linked Learning academies introduced students to their career pathway of choice, which is integrated to their college prep academic sequence of courses.  The four small school learning community academies are Engineering Design for a Green Environment (EDGE), Environmental Studies (Eco Cats), Leadership Education Advocacy Development (LEAD) and Media Technology.

In 2010 the Antioch High School community passed a school facility improvement bond measure to modernize the historic high school facility to a modern 21st century campus. The facility improvements have been the administrative offices building, school library, media technology building, college and career center, athletic track and field, swimming pool, cafeteria. Classrooms have been modernized with new technology and furniture to help promote student active participation and collaboration. Surveillance cameras were installed throughout the school campus to provide improved school security that has promoted a safe school environment.

I welcome you to Antioch High School, Home of the Panthers!
