Notes from the Coyote Den

Welcome to Orchard Park School, home of the Coyotes!

I am Ed Dacus, Principal of Orchard Park School.

A little bit about me......

I grew up in Antioch, and I am a graduate of the Antioch Unified School District. This is my 31st year in education, 28th year in the Antioch Unified School District, and 18th year as a school principal.

I am proud to have been the first principal of Orchard Park when it opened in 2007. From 2012-2017 I was the Principal of Dallas Ranch Middle School. In 2017, I had an opportunity to return to OPS. I am so excited to be back home and continue working with our wonderful students, families, and faculty.

I believe in public education, I believe in the power of positive relationships, and I believe learning is a dynamic, social endeavor where academic mastery is best achieved when social, emotional, and physical engagement are the foundation of the learning process.

At Orchard Park, we believe in kids and their ability to succeed. We employ dynamic and innovative instructional practices to engage students in a rigorous, standards aligned curriculum, so all students are prepared for high school and able to graduate on time ready for college, career, and life.

Orchard Park is a neighborhood Kindergarten through 8th Grade school offering a strong academic program, a firm and positive discipline policy, a desire to have community involvement, and a feeling that education is a home/school partnership. Our curriculum and instructional practices are Common Core State Standard aligned and follow the California State Frameworks to insure a relevant, meaningful educational program. As our school district's only K-8 school, OPS has a smaller, closer community where stronger, longer lasting relationships are developed.

We have very high expectations of our students. Orchard Park Students are expected to come to school every day, on time, ready to learn and participate.  Our school has a caring, fully credentialed faculty who are here to help students be successful in school and prepared for success in the future.

At Orchard Park School, we’re a howling success!
