Degrees and Certifications:

Christine Hester

Greetings!

My name is Christine Hester and I will be the Education Specialist in Room 610 for the 2022-2023 academic school years. Both my Instructional Aide, Reno Garcia and I are thrilled to begin the school year off with each of you. This year, I will be responsible for teaching: English 9, English 12, and Intro to Film. These classes will provide students with a variety of support in their individual academic areas.

Course Descriptions:
All classes are Monday through Friday. The Intro to Film class is designed to allow students to bridge and draw connections between the history of the world, themselves, and their own thinking by dissecting movies to seek, understand, analyze and critique film, while examining their personal philosophies within the world they live in. Students will be introduced to various genres of films, film theory, and basic film criticism.

The English 9 and English 12 classes are designed for students to critically learn the critical areas of reading, writing, and listening skills. Students will be introduced to informational text, short stories, various genres of literature, films, projects, and essay writing. All classes are designed to allow students to bridge and draw connections between the history of the world, themselves, and their own thinking. Students will become philosophical thinkers and examiners by dissecting literary works to seek and understand the fundamental truths about themselves, the world in which they live, and their relationships with the world and with each other. All classes are to empower students to take responsibility for their learning, and to help develop better individual reading, listening, comprehension, writing skills, as well as executive functioning skills, and to increase students' overall academic performance  to help them succeed.
