Mr. Shaver

Welcome to Mr. Shaver’s PE Class!

Thank you for joining me for this learning adventure! I am very excited to be your physical education teacher for MNO Grant Elementary. I look forward to getting to know all of you students (in person this time), creating a positive “classroom” culture, and most importantly… be safe and have fun!

We are going to learn in the in's and out's of a healthy and happy lifestyle, along with playing lots of fun games and sports throughout the school year. Think of me as your guide to stay active and healthy. The more we participate, the more we can learn about ourselves and others. First and foremost, our mental, physical, and emotional health comes first during these trying times.

12 Things a PE student should do every day:

  1. Learn
  2. Have fun
  3. Try your best
  4. Be polite and respectful (even during online class!)
  5. Show great sportsmanship / work as a team
  6. Help others and cooperate
  7. Pay attention to instruction
  8. Be safe
  9. Dress properly for exercise
  10. Watch your surroundings / be aware of others
  11. Ask questions
  12. Participate

Look to the left under "PE Schedule" for a PDF that can be expanded to see your student's classroom teacher's name and the days we have PE.

About me:

I was born and raised within the surrounding cities of Antioch, and I am so proud to be apart of Antioch Unified School District. As an ex-collegiate athlete, I have learned the value of physical activity along with the mental, physical, and emotional well-being it brings with it. I am big on mental health, so if we just need some portion of class to just talk about what is going on in our lives to decompress, so be it! I want to help the students learn the ins and outs of physical based skills with the knowledge behind it to boot. Standards-based learning is the game, and the "critical elements" on how to achieve that learning is the name. (You'll see what that means later haha!) When I'm not at school, you can find me in the outdoors most likely exploring this beautiful state, hiking with my dogs, camping, riding motorcycles, lifting weights, golfing, and many more!
