    Standards-Based Report Card Parent Handbooks

The Standards-Based Report Card reflects the Antioch Unified School District’s commitment to provide the best information possible to parents regarding student learning.  This guide provides an overview of what is included in the Standards-Based Report Card, explains the rubric for grading students, and answers frequently asked questions.  The California Department of Education outlines the educational standards in the California State Curriculum Frameworks.  The Frameworks contain standards for each grade level in each curricular area.  Each standard may include many learning objectives that outline what each student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade level.  Teachers use a variety of formal and informal assessments, students work, and daily observation of student performance when reporting student progress.  The Standards-Based Report Card is designed to provide accurate, concise, and consistent communication of student performance and growth over time.  We hope the Standards-Based Report Card is a useful tool that enhances school and home communication, and that it provides the basis for ongoing dialogue to support each student’s success.

Would you like to know about your child's attendance, assignments or grades?

Antioch Unified School District utilizes two systems that support our efforts to communicate and collaborate with families.  Blackboard allows all sites and teachers to create websites for sharing classroom information such as homework assignments, resources and events that are important for success in school and the classroom.  The AERIES Parent Portal shows attendance, assignments and grades as well as other important information.  If you are unable to locate the login or need assistance with login information please contact your child’s school.

    Renaissance Place

Also known as STAR and Accelerated Reader (AR).  Parents can view information from home by accessing Renaissance Home Connect.  This link allows students and parents to login to Renaissance Place to view results.  All testing must be done at school.

Searching for books with a corresponding Renaissance Accelerated Reader 360 quiz is easy with Accelerated Reader Bookfinder.  Students, teachers, parents, and librarians can search in English or Spanish using criteria such as ATOS book level or a Lexile™ measure, interest level, title, author, fiction/nonfiction, subject, award-winners, state lists, CCSS Exemplars, and more.

Contact your child’s school for specific details as to how the program is being implemented.

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a motivational reading program.  AR’s advanced technology helps to:

    • Make essential reading practice more effective.
    • Personalize reading practice to student’s current level.
    • Manage reading activities including read to, read with, and read independently.
    • Assess students’ reading with four types of quizzes: Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice, Literacy Skills, and Textbook Quizzes.
