Addressing the Board
Your attendance is greatly appreciated at this meeting of the Antioch Unified School District Board of Education. By statute the Board can only take action on items that are listed on the agenda. If you wish to speak to the Board on an item not on the agenda, you may do so under the “Public Comments” section of the agenda. The Board will take such comments at both the beginning and at the end of the meeting. If you wish to speak, either during “public comments” or during an agenda item, fill out a Speaker Card, indicate the item # and hand it to the Secretary. This will enable the Board to call upon you to speak at the appropriate time. Each speaker is limited to three minutes under Public Comments and three minutes on non-public hearing agenda items. No one may speak more than once on an agenda item or during “public comments.” In order to hear a variety of views speakers may not relinquish their time to another speaker. After having heard from the public, the agenda item will be closed to the public. Discussions will then be limited to members of the Board.
Public Comments During the Shelter in Place
During the shelter in place, Board meetings are held via teleconferencing.
Persons wishing to make a public comment can submit their comments prior to the meeting. The deadline for submitting comments is generally 4:00 pm on the day of the meeting for regular board meetings, but please check the agenda to confirm as early meetings require an earlier deadline. Comments can be submitted via an online form at https://tinyurl.com/ausd-public-comment-card or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Comments submitted by before the deadline will be read to the public during the meeting.
Comments are limited to three minutes (approximately 450 words) to allow others time to comment. The Board is prohibited by law from taking any aciton on matters discussed that are not on the agenda and no advers conclusions should be drawn if the Board does not respond to your comments at this time. However, the Board may respond briefly to statements made or questions posted or make an inquiry or staff for factual information or refer the item to staff.
