Marsh Attendance Line: 925-779-7626
Attendance is incredibly important to Marsh Elementary School, as well as the Antioch Unified School District.
Please help your child come to school every day, on time, so he/she can be as successful as possible at school.
The importance of regular attendance cannot be over-emphasized. A child should be in school every day that he/she is physically able. It is extremely difficult to successfully keep up with class work if attendance is irregular. If your child needs to miss school due to illness or another reason, please report the absence to the school with 24 hours. This can be done through a note when your child returns to school (for a one-day absence) or by calling the Absence Line at Marsh: 925-779-7626. You can also access the absence line by calling the main office (925) 779-7410, and pressing option #1 for English or option #2 for Spanish.
When should I call my child in sick?
Please keep your child home if he/she has had a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting within the past 24 hours. This is to allow them to heal and to reduce the spread of more serious contagious illnesses. Minor coughs and colds can often be managed at school, as long as there is no fever along with the cold symptoms.
Absences and tardies can have an impact on:
-Academics: Students miss instructions and key information/instruction in the classroom.
-School involvement: Students miss important announcements about events and other school functions/opportunities.
-Socialization: Students miss out on the opportunity to chat and catch up with friends before the day starts. They need this time!
-Habits: Coming to school every day, on time is a habit. THe routines students learn in elementary school often continue into middle and high school. Attendance matters now!
If a student is repeatedly absent or tardy (a combination of 3 or more unexcused absences or tardies in excess of 30 minutes), a truancy letter will be automatically mailed home. Additional tardies and absences may result in a SART (Student Attenance Review Team) meeting or a referral to SARB (School Attendance Review Board).
Students who have perfect attendance will receive monthly awards and/awards at trimester awards assemblies. Additionally, many teacher reward being on time with tickets, which can be used at our Student Store on Fridays.
