Principal Welcome Letter

Dear John Muir Families,

Welcome Back!

On behalf of the John Muir Elementary School Staff, I would like to say we have missed you all so much over the past year and half! We are excited to see all our students return to campus this year for in-person learning. Although John Muir and AUSD will follow COVID-19 health protocols, we are ready to create a positive experience for our students as we welcome them back for the 2021-22 school year.

The following is information is regarding upcoming events related to the start of school.

  • Class lists, with teacher assignments will be posted on our glass marquees near our front office on Wednesday August 4th at 4 pm.
  • On the first day of school students will line up near their classroom door. Muir staff will be out to help students find their way. As a quick reminder parents and guardians are not permitted on campus due to COVID-19 restrictions.
  • On the first day of school, all students will receive a registration packet and emergency cards, which must be filled out and returned to your child’s teacher the next day, Friday, August 6th.
  • Before Thursday, August 5th, please sign up for the Parent Portal if you did not sign-up last year.
    • Signing up for the parent portal automatically connects you to the Remind program, which allows parents to receive emails and text messages from the school and your child’s teacher.
    • To sign up, go to the website below: and the click on “Create New Account” (under the red “Next” button)

At this time, parents/guardians and non-AUSD staff are not allowed on AUSD school campuses, this will include the first day of school. For more information please visit AUSD website regarding COVID protocols.
