Distance Learning Update
October 10, 2020
Dear Antioch Unified School District Parents/Guardians and Staff,
I am writing to let you know that the Board of Education took action October 7, 2020 to remain in distance learning through the end of the first semester, January 29, 2021. We will re-evaluate the situation and options for returning safely sometime in early January.
I know this situation has been incredibly challenging for students, families, and AUSD staff. However, please know that this decision was not made lightly and was predicated solely on our desire to keep students, their families, and staff as safe as possible.
Please know that our District Office as well as our school offices will remain open with limited staff so that we can assist any parent or student with technology and/or other needs during the school day. Please also know that we will be sending a survey to parents regarding the social/emotional needs of their children so that we can intervene if needed. The isolation the pandemic has created has been difficult for many of our students and we want to make sure we are meeting any needs that may exist amongst our students.
I want to truly and sincerely thank our families, students, and staff for their hard work during these challenging times. What we have accomplished thus far --though not perfect, has been made all the more rewarding due to the outstanding, positive efforts of our incredible AUSD family.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and understanding during these challenging times.
