AUSD Selected as a 2022 California Pivotal Practice Award Winner
The Antioch Unified School District (AUSD) is pleased to announce it was selected by the California Department of Education as a 2022 California Pivotal Practice Award Winner.
Tony Thurmond, California Superintendent of Schools, announced the winners of the newly created 2022 California Pivotal Practice (CAPP) Award Program. The award program is being utilized by California in 2022 in place of the California Distinguished Schools (DS) Program intended to celebrate schools and districts that implemented an innovative practice during the 2020–21 school year when California required schools to offer distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the year and a half of school closures, the Antioch Unified School District transitioned on a dime to grab-and-go meal service and a student-to-device ratio of 1:1. AUSD teachers became technology experts and their growth in instructional strategies and student engagement techniques was nothing short of incredible.
