Hi, Eagle Fam! The BACR After School Program Fall Intersession has begun, and is still accepting applications. Students will enjoy fun, engaging activities and academic enrichment. Breakfast, lunch, snack and supper will be served. Dates: Mon 10/2 to Fri 10/6, 8am-5pm. Enter through AMS cafeteria doors. See you there!

Antioch Middle School is in the process of accepting nominations for our School Site Council (SSC). The SSC is an elected body composed of the principal, teachers, other school personnel, parents, and students. A school site council has a significant role in the leadership of a school. SSCs exist to provide a venue for shared leadership through the inclusion of parents, community members, school staff, and students while providing for compliance with state and federal law. A chief function of an SSC is to develop, approve, and monitor progress toward achieving the goals of the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). This includes how school funds are to be expended. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES OF THE SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL MEMBERS: • Work as a team with other advisory group representatives to develop the School Plan for Student Achievement for our school consistent with the District’s Local Control Accountability Plan • Recommend the School Plan for Student Achievement to the local governing board for approval. • Monitor implementation of the plan • Evaluate the effectiveness of the School Plan for Student Achievement • Annually review and revise the plan and proposed expenditures of categorical funds. • Regularly attend scheduled SSC meetings • Coordinate election process Antioch Middle School is looking for members to be part of this vital partnership. There are four open positions for both parent/guardian and student membership. Hello AMS Families! The AMS counselors will be holding an Aeries Support Workshop on Wednesday, 9/20 from 5:00-6:00 PM in the AMS library. The workshop will provide support in creating an Aeries account and general Aeries support. Aeries is an important tool for checking your student's grades and communicating with teachers. You will be able to use it all throughout your student's middle and high school years in AUSD.

Check out your child's grades on AERIES. If they are not doing well, afterschool tutoring will begin September 18th. Teachers will be available in the library between 3:00 pm-4:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to support students that need extra help with their schoolwork.

Good Morning AMS Families: We have recently seen a surge in the "Paqui One Chip Challenge" which is a brand challenging individuals to consume extremely hot chips as part of a social media "challenge". Effective immediately, the “Hot Brand Challenge” chips and gummies are banned from all AUSD campuses. Students across the nation have been hospitalized as a result of a reaction to the heat index of the chips. We encourage our parents and guardians to speak with their children about the dangers of participating in this and other potentially harmful internet challenges. Notice: Students will be suspended for bringing these to school let alone trying to encourage others to take the challenge.

Students and Families, In order to attend any Antioch High School football games, middle school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event. Middle School students identified without a parent/guardian present will be instructed to leave the game. Thank you!
