Work Based Learning

An education strategy that links classroom instruction to work-related experiences, aims to increase students’ technical skills and knowledge, and helps shape career decision making. Studies have shown that students benefit when they can connect academics to the real world, see career options, and understand what is required to succeed after high school.

In the Antioch Unified School District, students focus on exploring the world of high-demand careers in their chosen CTE Pathway through community-based service learning, guest speakers, industry-based field trips, internships, job shadowing, mentoring, simulations, student-led enterprises, visits to colleges, work experience, and other similar such opportunities.
The Work-Based Learning program for the Antioch Unified School District Career Technical Education programs consists of a continuum of activities that have been intentionally and sequentially developed with direction, purpose, and results. The program is designed to allow the students to move through a progression of sequential activities as follows:
