Staff Development Day Agenda and Information

Dr. Daman Harris will facilitate an engaging and meaningful day of learning for AUSD educators! Dr. Harris (who prefers to go by Daman with adults) is a well-known and respected educational leader and author of The Antiracist School Leader.  Daman is the manager of the Professional Development Schools Program and the Institutions of Higher Education Partnerships for Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland. He is also the cofounder and codirector of the Building Our Network of Diversity (BOND) Project, a nonprofit that supports the recruitment, development, retention, and empowerment of male educators of color.

During his 28 years as an educator, Daman has had a wide range of experiences as a teacher, coach, principal, district administrator, adjunct professor, speaker, writer, and consultant. He is a graduate faculty member at the University of Maryland at College Park and an adjunct professor at McDaniel College and the University of Maryland Global Campus, where he leads graduate courses relating to teaching strategies, research methods, and antiracist education.

Daman has worked closely with AUSD's leadership team at both the district level and the site level to understand AUSD's mission and vision and has aligned his work with us to add systems and values that help us ensure all students learn at grade level. 

Below are important specifics for all educators regarding our first Staff Development Day of the year. Please be sure to reach out to your school site administrator if you have any questions.

Schedule at a Glance for Secondary Teachers

All groups will be provided breakfast from 7:45-8:15am at their assigned locations.

For teachers attending the session at Lone Tree Golf Course (LTGC), due to limited parking we encourage you to park at Dallas Ranch Middle School and utilize our shuttle system via school bus to the Golf Course. Bus Schedule. Please Note: The Bus Ride is very brief and we guarantee a LOT of fun for those who take advantage of this option. All riders will have a chance to win a raffle prize....don't miss out!

• Bus Pick Up #1: 7:40am (will arrive in time for breakfast)

• Bus Pick Up #2: 8:05am (for those not wanting breakfast)

All teachers will be picked up at from LTGC and returned to DRMS to their vehicles by 11:00am

Schedule at a Glance for Elementary Teachers

All groups will be provided lunch from 11:30-12:00pm at their assigned locations.
